Majorca Beaches
Majorca Beaches

There are more than 200 beaches around Mallorca’s beautiful coastline. Over 30 of these are designated as ‘Blue Flag’, which assures not just the water quality but the provision of bathroom facilities, lifeguards and other tourism services.

Mallorca's beaches range from long stretches of golden sand sliding into shallow blue seas to quiet rocky coves with crystal clear waters. Many of the bigger beaches have been claimed by resorts but there are many more to discover off the beaten track. The north and south have the largest sandy beaches.

Mallorca (Majorca) is one of Spain's Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean. It's known for beach resorts, sheltered coves, limestone mountains and Roman and Moorish remains. Capital Palma has nightlife, the Moorish Almudaina royal palace and 13th-century Santa María Cathedral.

Taste The Real Tenerife
Taste The Real Tenerife

Typical Tenerife Food. On the Canary Islands the most typical foods are: Bananas, Local Wine, Honey, Cheese, Mojo, Gofio, Potatoes, Papaya and other fruits, Almogrote, Bienmesabe, dishes with lots of herbs and spices, Barraquito (a coffee with liquor) Almond based desserts such as Principe Alberto and fish of course.

Typical food of the Canary Islands tends to be simple dishes of grilled meat and fish with papas arrugadas and vegetable or salad accompaniments are not the most imaginative in the world. Although Tenerife takes some beating when it comes to choosing tapas.

Gofio has been a staple part of the Canarian diet for many years and is rather like flour made from toasted cereals. It was believed to be the main food of the Guanches, the native people of Tenerife and remains a popular dish to this day.

Outdoor Pursuits
Outdoor Pursuits

Lanzarote is know as the Hawaii of Europe, which should tell you something about the waves that you can expect on a surf trip here. The surf, swell, weather and location are almost identical to that of Fuerteventura, and even the waves are similar. It can get big, powerful waves firing off its reefs throughout October to March, but is consistent enough throughout the rest of the year. Good waves can be found throughout the year, no matter when you visit.

No matter what level of surfing you are currently at there is something to offer you a good time at Lanzarote. Experienced surfers can test their mettle on waves such as La Santa Left (The Slab) and El Quemao - the Pipeline of the Canary Islands. Famara is a good place to head for, a huge arc of sand catching the swells for you to surf.

Carnival Of Santa Cruz De Tenerife
Carnival Of Santa Cruz De Tenerife

The Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is held each February in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the capital of the largest island of the Canary Islands, Spain and attracts people from all over the world.

It is considered the second most popular and internationally known carnival, after the one held in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Partially for this reason, the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is twinned with the city of Rio de Janeiro.

The festival has two parts: the official Carnival, and the Carnival on the street. The official carnival has more than a hundred groups, including murgas, comparsas, rondallas and other musical groups.
